My teaching style revolves around helping students develop a passion for learning in their lives, not just in a classroom setting. It begins with the material we are studying, but can transfer over into other areas of life. In order for this to work, the learning process has to be fun and enjoyable. If the student is enjoying him or herself, it will be easier to develop the skills necessary to learn the material and find success. I have a lot of experience teaching in various learning environments. I currently teach piano lessons full time, and have been doing so for the past six years. Prior to that I taught fourth grade for three years at a Title I school. I incorporated reading and writing workshops into my lesson plans. I have a degree in K-6 Elementary Education. My main areas of experience are K-8 music and K-8 reading. I have a very wide variety of teaching subjects under my belt including European History, IB World Religions SL, Study Skills and Organization, Phonics, Middle School Math, Geography, Music Theory, Public Speaking, and Religious Studies. I also have 18 credit hours of Special Ed. My hobbies include playing instruments such as trumpet and piano, reading, playing sports, traveling, and watching movies.
